The Timeline Game

The "Timeline game" is an activity for teacher CPD sessions. Groups should try to place (multiple sets of) the following provocative statements into the timeframe of periods. (An initial whole-group discussion about the order and spacing of the periods might also be valuable.)

Whole-group discussion afterwards can focus on the reasons for the choices:

• are there statements all groups agreed on and placed in the same place?
• where groups' placements differed, can they see one another's points?
• are there any statements which cannot be reconciled between groups - and what underpins such disagreement?

• do we all agree on the order and spacing of the timeline?
