Personal Development Curriculum

The personal development curriculum might roughly be said to broadly incorporate the following:
  • Citizenship
  • PSHE
  • Careers
  • Enterprise
  • WRL
  • Learning to learn
It also links strongly (and should lead activity in) pastoral provision. PDC provision takes different forms in different schools and often different provision across key stages. The PDC is increasing in prominence, with strong mention and significant focus in, for example, the following current threads or themes:
  • Curriculum 08 (top line 3 themes for example)
  • 2020 aims
  • increasing dominance in all CYPS provision of ECM
  • pedagogical developments like BLP, active learning
  • SEAL

Our PDC consultant, Michael Drennan, has been working with Gloucestershire and Worcestershire schools and other bodies using the Cambridgeshire programme to enhance, develop and share best practice in these areas. The following documents may be useful to those who are receiving this support:
You may also want to see some of our resources available at The Ethos Project’s two relevant pages:
You will need to email to receive a password to these two sets of resources. Email strategicdirector@theethosproject.co.uk

Colleagues wishing to join a developing e-confederation writing and sharing these resources should also email Michael at the above address. We are actively seeking a group of 6-8 schools to share their resources for Michael's simplified model of the Cambridgeshire framework. Participation will make available a wide range of other resources like the above (specifially keyed in to Cambridge) - the sample on this page is just a limited taster. Please email if you have any interest in participating (you need not be an IT whizz!)
