Overview of CPD resources
The Ethos Consortium aims to provide resources for teachers and other educationalists to reflect on creating, fostering or furthering Character education in their own context. These resources come in many forms.Models of Character education are functional diagrams designed to prompt thought about underlying issues in Character education, and commentary on their meaning and use. They are generally useful for teacher reflection and collaboration, including in training exercises. Many bright older students will also be interested and able to comment, and they may be useable in many classroom contexts accordingly.
Resources for reflecting on Character education in schools are material designed for teachers to examine their own practice and that of their school. They are designed for use in staff meetings and CPD, for staff reflection etc. The enable both classroom staff and leaders of educational institutions to consider the current politics of education and how Character education fits into that.
Audits of school practice in Character education will be coming soon. We welcome contributions in this area.
Our consultancy services can help your school move its Character education programme forward; we are also happy to discuss secondment opportunities.
Perhaps the most in-depth resource we can offer is to tell you more about the dissertation on Character education which helped created The Ethos Consortium.
You can also use some of our teacher CPD session resources, a variety of mobile learning / discursive games to support teacher CPD sessions.
Please remember that we are providing these resources with free access and that, in all cases, permission for single printing and personal use is permitted. Reproduction and onward distribution are not authorised. If your colleagues want to use the resources, please direct them to come to the site and download them for themselves – email them a link if you like. The more people engage with the space for debate we are attempting to provide, the fuller and more interesting it will be for all of us.
